JUAN DE DIOS PUELLES CRUZ

I am Juan de Dios. I was born on February 10, 1995, in the province and department of Cusco. I am fluent in English and Spanish. I enjoy ceramics, gardening, and listening to music. My motivation is to grow professionally and continue learning every day.

I chose to study tourism because I enjoy traveling, outdoor activities, and learning about my land. What sets me apart as a guide is that the information I provide is based on our region's geographical area, nature, and amazing history. I also focus on the deeper aspects of the Andes, its people, lifestyle, customs, and the natural environment surrounding us. It is incredible to appreciate the landscapes that Mother Nature has granted us.

My mission as a guide is to motivate people to continue practicing this wonderful activity. The added value that sets me apart from others is my charisma, understanding, and warmth that I provide to tourists. To be a good guide, you must trust others and be a friend willing to help and support their passengers.

I have been working as a guide for 5 years, and Machu Picchu remains the most surprising. Undoubtedly, our Wonder of the World is a pride for the country. It holds mysteries about its purpose and arouses interest of visitors and archaeologists worldwide. I assure you that the impressive architecture and engineering of the Inca Empire will captivate you.

Of all our routes, I have the most experience in Salkantay, Inca Trail, and Choquequirao. In addition, I frequently lead traditional tours in Salkantay Trekking.

Years ago, I led an expedition around the Ausangate mountain. During the night, one of my passengers presented acute symptoms of altitude sickness. He felt sick, and at that moment, the right decision was to descend from the altitude as soon as possible. I started the evacuation early in the morning, and his condition improved considerably as we descended. After walking for a few hours, we arrived at the nearest town, where we could find lodging and rest. Finally, the tourist was much better and out of danger at dawn. Thanks to this emergency I had on the route, I knew what to do when faced with such circumstances that, due to external factors, are beyond our control.
