To book a trip with Salkantay Trekking we require that you submit a deposit of 50% of the total trek price. We use this deposit to purchase train and Machu Picchu entrance tickets; all subject to availability. After you submit your deposit and booking confirmation, the outstanding balance will be due when you arrive in Cusco and can be paid either 48 hrs before departure or during your briefing session. Failure to pay any outstanding balances prior to departure will result in your inability to partake in the trek. Final acceptance of any participant is subject to receipt and review of all the required forms, documents, and payments.
All hikes offered by Salkantay Trekking are subject to itinerary changes based on a variety of circumstances. These include river, road, and weather conditions as well as government policy changes. We also reserve the right to cancel any trip due to client unsuitability because of age, health, fitness, intoxication, etc.
Any missed tours due to the above-listed incidences cannot be refunded or recuperated.
The price and duration of a hiking trip will never change once you’ve registered. Payments for itinerary changes or public land closures are not refundable. If a trip is canceled due to circumstances beyond our control a trip credit equal to the full amount paid will be issued.
If you wish to change the date of departure or route of your trek after making the reservation/deposit, there will be a $50 per person fee to make the change. If the change is made in the last 48 hours before the trek, the change will cost $100 per person.
Salkantay Trekking reserves the right to cancel trips (Check the section TRIP ITINERARIES). The Salkantay Trekking Company is not responsible for additional expenses incurred by preparing for the trip (for example non-refundable advance purchase air tickets, clothing, equipment, visa fees, medical expenses, etc.).
If you cancel or leave a multi-day trip early for any reason:
We require medical releases for prospective guests over 70 years of age and for various circumstances such as the history of cardiovascular disease, chronic illness, and other conditions and factors.
Let your guide know if you are taking any medication or subject to a chronic illness so they can be fully prepared in case of an emergency or accident.
For your protection, we strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance. Travel insurance provides you with assistance and coverage in the case of trip cancellation, interruption, travel delay, medical expenses, emergency assistance, and baggage delay. Medical coverage purchased with your policy will also satisfy our requirement for health insurance.
