ANGEL JORGE MEZA MAMANI

Hello friends, my name is Angel, and I am also part of the great family of Salkantay Trekking. I was born on May 16th, and the biggest motivation I have in life is my family. When I am not hiking, I like to spend time at home, reading a book or listening to music. I am fluent in English and Spanish.

I chose to be a tour guide because I like to share the incredible history of our ancestors with people from different parts of the world and learn a little of theirs. Guiding is leading a group and always going forward. It is to gain people's trust in order to have an unforgettable journey.

In the 18 years that I have been practicing this fascinating profession, I had an emergency on the road and I still remember it. One day I was hiking with a group, everything was going well until suddenly there was a rock slide. I had to keep calm so that my passengers would be calm too, but suddenly I realized that there was a group of people who needed help. I helped them as much as I could, including my colleague, until rescuers arrived and were able to take them to a health facility. This was a real emergency that I keep very much in mind.

On the other hand, I have known several places and I consider that where I gained the most experience was: Salkantay, Inca Trail, and Choquequirao. But the place that impacted me the most was Waqrapukara.

I have been working in Salkantay Trekking for approximately 4 years and I have seen the growth that we are achieving. I hope we continue like this, giving great travel experiences with the support of highly qualified professionals and the best camping infrastructure. See you soon!
