Imagine a country where the skies are as diverse as its landscapes; this country has a name, and it’s called “Peru,” where airports are not only the main gateway to its beautiful destinations but also a crucial part of connecting cultures, businesses, and people’s dres.
Currently, there are more than 200 airports in Peru, including airstrips and military airports. However, only 12 airports allow regular and international flights. The airports are operated by the Peruvian Corporation of Airports and Commercial Aviation (CORPAC), Airports of Peru (ADP), and Lima Airport Partners (LAP). At present, there are five airports operating internationally in Lima, Cusco, Arequipa, Puno, Iquitos, and Pucallpa.
In this sense, this blog will allow us to explore the Peruvian air network, in which we will describe the main airports in Peru and provide information about their facilities, services, infrastructure, and navigation systems.

Lima, Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM)
It is the most important and active airport in all of Peru. Most national and international airlines operate on its platform, including Aerolíneas Argentinas, Air Canada, Air France, Alitalia, American Airlines, Iberia, and others. The airport is located in the constitutional province of Callao, just 7 kilometers from the historic center of Lima. The place offers various services, restaurants, retail outlets where travelers can find Peruvian products, taxis, security, tourism information, and more.
Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ)
It is the second most widely used airport in Peru. Major national airlines have daily flights at the airport. There are also regular flights to Arequipa, Tacna, Lima, Puerto Maldonado, and Juliaca. Additionally, there are international flights from Bolivia with Amazonas and from the United States with American Airlines from Miami. Currently, the airport serves as the main gateway for tourism in southern Peru, as it is the entrance to Machu Picchu. It is a must-stop for those heading to the ruins of Machu Picchu. Moreover, it offers a wide range of services.
Arequipa, Rodríguez Ballón International Airport (AQP)
This airport belongs to the second most important city in the country and is the second most important airport in southern Peru. It is located 8 km from the city center. Most regular domestic airlines between Lima and Arequipa operate at the airport. Regular flights are also conducted to other regions, including Cuzco, Tacna, and Juliaca. Additionally, other international airlines have daily connections with this airport, such as the case of Chile with Sky Airline.
Rodríguez Ballón Airport receives around 44 daily commercial flights, which increase to 58 flights during the high season (June and August). The first flight arrives at 4:30 am, while the last one is at 09:00 pm. The airport provides various services to national and international passengers.
Juliaca, Inca Manco Cápac Airport (JUL)
It is located 5 km from the city of Juliaca, in Puno. Airlines such as Taca, LAN Perú, and Star Perú operate flights between Lima and Juliaca, and some flights go through Arequipa or Cusco.
Andahuaylas, Andahuaylas Airport (ANS)
It is located 15 km from the city of Andahuaylas, in Apurímac, southern Peru. Currently, it is served by two local airlines, Star Perú and LC Perú (formerly LC Busre). Connections are made to Lima and Ayacucho.
Iquitos, Crnl. FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport (IQT)
Considered one of the main airports in the country, it is the primary air terminal in the Peruvian Amazon. Five domestic airlines operate here, providing connections to six departments in Peru. Internationally, there are flights to Panama with Copa Airlines and to Brazil and Colombia with Aviaselva. The city of Iquitos has no overland access, and transportation between Iquitos and the airport is facilitated by taxis and mototaxis.
LAN Perú, Star Peru, and Peruvian Airlines operate regular flights between Lima and Iquitos with layovers in Tarapoto. Additionally, there are connections to the airport in Pucallpa. Copa Airlines from Panama also connects to Brazil and Colombia through Aviaselva.
Tacna, Crnl. FAP Carlos Ciriani Santa Rosa Airport (TCQ)
Located on the southern coast, 5 km from the city of Tacna and 20 km from the Chilean border. LAN Perú and Peruvian Airlines operate regular flights to Lima, Cuzco, and Arequipa.

Madre de Dios, Puerto Maldonado Airport
It’s a small airport, located 7 km from Puerto Maldonado, in Madre de Dios. LAN Perú, TACA Perú, and Star Perú airlines operate regular flights from there. Some flights pass through Cuzco before reaching Lima. Travelers are required to carry documents proving yellow fever vaccination and be aware of the weather
Tarapoto, Guillermo del Castillo Paredes Cadet FAP Airport (TPP)
It is located in the San Martín region. It is used as an access point by many travelers to reach other cities in the jungle such as Moyobamba and Yurimaguas. Lan Perú, Taca, and Star Perú operate daily flights to Lima, and Star Perú also offers flights to Iquitos and Pucallpa.
Pucallpa, Captain FAP David Abenzur Rengifo International Airport (PCL)
It is located 5.5 km from the city of Pucallpa, Ucayali. Daily flights arrive from Lima, Iquitos, Cuzco, and Tarapoto. LAN Perú and Star Perú operate regular flights between Lima and Pucallpa.
Tumbes, Captain FAP Pedro Canga Rodríguez Airport (TBP)
It is located 16 km from Tumbes in northern Peru, near the border with Ecuador. This airport is highly frequented as it provides access to two major resorts in Peru: Máncora and Punta Sal. Currently, it receives daily flights from LAN Perú and Star Perú originating from Lima and Talara.
Ayacucho, Coronel FAP Alfredo Mendívil Duarte Airport (AYP)
Located 2 km from the center of Ayacucho, it has daily flights operated by Star Perú, LC Perú, and Cielos Andinos. The airport offers a variety of services for both local and international travelers.
Chiclayo, Cap. FAP José A. Quiñones Gonzáles International Airport (CIX)
Situated 1.5 km from Chiclayo in Lambayeque, it provides regular flights between Chiclayo and Lima. Regular flights are operated by LAN Perú, Taca, and Star Perú.
Trujillo, Cap. FAP Carlos Martínez de Pinillos International Airport (TRU)
As the main airport in northern Peru, it is located in Huanchaco, 7 km from the city of Trujillo in La Libertad. LAN Perú and Taca offer daily flights to Lima with connections between Trujillo, Chiclayo, and Piura. The airport also provides various services, including cafeterias, banking services, retail outlets, shops, and more.
Ancash, Comandante FAP Germán Arias Graziani Airport (ATA)
Located in the Ancash region in northern Peru, 23 km north of Huaraz, LC Perú operates daily flights to Lima. The airport features a VIP lounge for passengers and various shops and services.
Huánuco, Alférez FAP David Figueroa Fernandini Airport (HUU)
Situated 6 km from the city center, Star Perú, Cielos Andinos, and LC Perú operate flights to Lima.
Piura, Cap. FAP Guillermo Concha Ibérico Airport (PIU)
Located on the northern coast of Peru, the airport is situated 2 km from the center of Piura and 130 km from the Máncora Resort, one of the most frequented places by travelers. Taca and LAN Perú operate regular flights to Lima with connections to Chiclayo and Trujillo. Other international airlines also have access.
Talara, Cap. FAP Victor Montes Arias Airport (TYL)
Situated in Talara, Piura, in the northern part of the country, it is very close to the Máncora Resort. Star Perú and LAN Perú operate here, with Star Perú offering flights with a layover in Cajamarca. The place offers various services and a VIP lounge.
Cajamarca, Mayor General FAP Armando Revoredo Iglesias Airport (CJA)
Located 4 km from the city, this airport is in the northern Sierra of Peru. It has daily flights to Lima operated by LAN Perú, StarPerú, and LC Perú. Additionally, StarPerú has flights to Talara in Piura.
Jauja, Francisco Carlé Airport (JAU)
A small regional airport located in the Junín region, it is 3 km from Jauja and serves as an access point to Tarma and Huancayo. It has daily flights to Lima operated by Vuelos Andinos and LC Perú.
