At Salkantay Trekking, we believe that a positive work environment is built on respect, trust, and communication. For this reason, we held two training sessions on preventing sexual harassment for our employees to help them recognize inappropriate behavior, understand protective measures, and strengthen workplace harmony.
Learning to Recognize and Prevent Sexual Harassment
During the first session, our employees took a break from work to participate in a workshop led by psychology and law professionals.
The activity began with group exercises that encouraged reflection on concepts such as respect, responsibility, support, social pressure, and the limits of joking in the workplace.
Through practical scenarios and small prizes, the teams learned to identify different forms of sexual harassment, including verbal, nonverbal, and physical behaviors, as well as the importance of respectful communication.
They also received guidance on Law No. 27942, the Law on the Prevention and Punishment of Sexual Harassment, as well as procedures for reporting potential cases and the protective measures and support available in such situations.
At the end of the workshop, participants received informational materials to review and reinforce what they had learned.
Reinforcing What Was Learned in Each Area
On the second day, sessions were held in smaller, work-area-based groups to reinforce the knowledge gained.
This space allowed participants to ask questions, share reflections, and learn how to listen to and provide initial support to someone who might be experiencing harassment.
Through each team’s participation, we reinforced the importance of respect, empathy, and shared responsibility in maintaining a healthy work environment.
