It\u2019s a thrilling way to journey to Machu Picchu, and you\u2019re guaranteed to have a lot of fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll be cycling from the Malaga Pass, which is very cold, to the edge of the Peruvian jungle, stopping at archaeological sites on the way down. You\u2019ll feel the wind rushing through your hair for that extra thrill. You can also only access it by foot, for the time being, so you can imagine how quiet the area is. You should know that if you plan to trek to Machu Picchu via Choquequirao<\/a>, you\u2019ll spend eight days walking, which can take its toll on some hikers. You need to be in good shape for this one. Booking ahead is a must as this trek doesn\u2019t leave daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best for:<\/strong> Fit hikers who like an off the beaten path adventure and to learn a lot about the history of new places and different cultures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Inca Quarry Trek<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This is a newer route, which means it\u2019s still relatively unknown and much quieter than others. However, that doesn\u2019t mean that it\u2019s any less spectacular. Other Ways to Get to Machu Picchu<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You know, trekking isn\u2019t the only way to get to Machu Picchu. Going by train and car are also viable options and great for when you don\u2019t have as much time. When you go on a trek, you\u2019ll also have to return to Cusco by one of these forms of transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By Train<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When you wish to travel by train, you have two options. You can go with Inca Rail or Peru Rail. Both are excellent options, and they offer very comfy trains with extras. Check out the differences between the two to see which you prefer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can get trains from Cusco, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo. This makes it easy to travel to Machu Picchu in just a day or two. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A less expensive option is to travel by car. You\u2019ll have to make your way to Santa Maria, then Santa Teresa, and finally Hidroel\u00e9ctrica.
