We have several <strong>Peruvian superfoods<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s no surprise when you learn that Peru is home to a huge variety of different micro-climates, as well as different types of soil. This makes it easier for them to grow a lot of variety when it comes to food. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, we share with you all the <strong>peruvian<\/strong> <strong>superfoods <\/strong>that will help you stay healthy. There\u2019ll be some you\u2019ve tried and some you may not even have heard of! It\u2019s said to have some amazing properties that can help with <strong>fertility<\/strong>, <strong>hormonal issues<\/strong>, and will give you a huge <strong>energy<\/strong> boost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can\ndrink it as a breakfast drink like they do in Peru. You just need to heat it up\nwith water and sugar to sweeten it. It contains a whopping five times the amount of <strong>vitamin C<\/strong> as oranges. It doesn\u2019t just come in white either. You can get red and <strong>black quinoa<\/strong>, too. They are all equally amazing for your body as they are full of <strong>fiber and protein<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s the perfect accompaniment to a meal and can be made in <strong>various ways<\/strong> including as a risotto (quinotto). You can also use it a sweet dish ingredient and it\u2019s fantastic for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/vegan-cusco-peru-power-plant-inca-capital\/\">vegans<\/a><\/strong> and those who avoid gluten. It\u2019s great all-round really and is easy to find all over the world nowadays!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/quinoa-quinua-peruvian-super-food.jpg\" alt=\"Quinoa, peruvian superfoods\" class=\"wp-image-3176\" width=\"920\" height=\"613\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-kiwicha\"><strong>Kiwicha<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You may have heard of this as amaranth. It grows similarly to quinoa and is also high in <strong>protein<\/strong>. It also offers a large quantity of amino acids and can help manage <strong>blood pressure<\/strong> and <strong>cholesterol<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use it in a similar way to quinoa, but we really like it in sweet dishes. You can even make a porridge like substance with the flakes. Again, it\u2019s gluten-free. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/kiwicha-amaranto-super-peruvian-food.jpg\" alt=\"Kiwicha, peruvian superfoods\" class=\"wp-image-3177\" width=\"920\" height=\"613\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-lucuma\"><strong>Lucuma<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is unusual fruit; probably like no other you\u2019ve ever tried. It\u2019s creamy and has a distinct taste. Some say it\u2019s \u2018<strong>the gold of the Incas<\/strong>\u2019, and it\u2019s jam-packed with vitamin B3, <strong>calcium<\/strong>, and <strong>protein<\/strong>. They have maize that\u2019s purple. In fact, there are a lot of different kinds of maize here. The purple variety is known to have <strong>anti-inflammatory properties<\/strong> and can even promote tissue regeneration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re in Peru, you\u2019ll be able to try it out in one of their favorite drinks known as \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/13-typical-peruvian-drinks\/\">Chicha Morada<\/a><\/strong>\u2019. They also use it to make a warm dessert that goes really well with rice pudding. However, making chocolate isn\u2019t the\nonly thing we can use it for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can eat the beans themselves and they will do a lot of good for your body. It\u2019s known to be excellent for <strong>skin care<\/strong> and will give your skin a natural glow. This time aguaymanto, or goldenberry as you may have heard it called. It\u2019s small and slightly sour, but it is full of <strong>vitamin C<\/strong>. It\u2019s a nut from the region and offers many benefits. It can be made into oil and is enriched in <strong>omega-3, vitamin A, and antioxidants<\/strong>. They taste good, too. You may also be surprised to hear that it offers high amounts of fiber and beta-carotene.
