A winding river runs through the middle,\nwhich meant that always had a supply of fresh running water for all of their\nneeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to its fantastic layout and great earth for harvesting, it\u2019s no surprise that we still find many Incan sites throughout the valley. Most visitors to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Cusco (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/trekking-in-peru\/cusco\/trekking-machu-picchu-salkantay-llactapata\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Cusco<\/strong><\/a> will come to visit and some even spend a few days or weeks here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A large population of foreigners has also decided to set up home in the area because it truly is a beautiful place and has a very spiritual feel due to all the history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, as we\nknow you are likely to visit, we\u2019ve come up with a list of all the things there\nare to do there and places to visit. Some of the more interesting ones are here including Moray, Pisac, Chinchero, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/traditional\/cusco\/sacred-valley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Ollantaytambo<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to\ngo with a guide to learn as much as possible while there, or simply read up on\neach site before you go. Each one was established for a different reason and\nit\u2019s great to understand the meaning and purpose of each individual one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s very\neasy to get to as isn\u2019t too far from Cusco and many tours head out there. Photo by: @pilardapena<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-huchuy-qosqo-trek\">The Huchuy Qosqo Trek<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a short trek lasting between one and three days to another archaeological site, however, it\u2019s not so crowded. Few visitors make the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/trekking-in-peru\/huchuy-qosqo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">trip here<\/a><\/strong>, perhaps as you can\u2019t drive up to the entrance. It\u2019s well worth the visit, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It includes a few areas in the site that you won\u2019t find elsewhere. The trek itself is also full of stunning views as well as the fact that you get to spend time with traditional Andean families and learn about their customs and traditions. High up in the\nAndes are salt mines that have been used since the Incan times. There are over\n3,000 of them and you often see families there mining their salt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It looks\nincredible when you see all the little mines from above. You can also get a bit\nof salt there to take home as it goes really well with cooking. This is for those who like a bit of adventure and are looking for a thrill. There is a whole range of excellent places to stay that provide high-quality spa services too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of\nthem are set beside the river so you can enjoy a relaxing treatment before\nsitting by the water and enjoying a cocktail or even some food. This is the best place to see how handmade items are created. This includes learning how they dye all of the different colors and then enjoying a demonstration of how they weave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can\ntake a trip especially to see these places, or you\u2019ll find that it is part of\nmany tours offered in the city of Cusco where you also get to see the archaeological\nsites. Well, this has to be the best place to visit animals from the zone. Most of the animals get to roam free or enjoy a lot of space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another excellent fact is that they have all been rescued from various places including an eagle who lost its eye from being played with by children, and pumas who were saved from a nightclub in Lima. They set the animals free whenever possible and you can even get a tour in English included in your ticket price. It takes you through all of the cultures leading up to and ending with the Incas. You\u2019ll see some interesting artifacts, read all about the history, and then head into a room that\u2019s a replica of how they lived in that period with life-size figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a great way to learn more about our history as well as enjoy the fun theme of the museum. You may need to take a private car out to here, but it\u2019s worth it. It\u2019s a small town in the middle of the valley but they specialize in one type of food. Guinea pig! And it comes on a stick, too. If you want to try this Andean delicacy, this is a great place to do so.
