Maybe you\u2019re even thinking about moving here. It is a <strong>wonderful city<\/strong>, after all, and there is a lot to do. The first time you probably visited Machu Picchu, <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">trekked Salkantay<\/a><\/strong> or the<strong> <\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Inca Trail (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/trekking-in-peru\/inca-trail\/trek-inca-trail-machu-picchu-cusco-peru\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Inca Trail<\/strong><\/a>, and visited all the <strong>archaeological sites<\/strong> around the city and <strong>Sacred Valley<\/strong>. So what else is there to do? Well, a lot actually. How exciting is that? If you are after a huge thrill then this is the one for you. Imagine jumping towards the ground surrounded by the beautiful backdrop of the <strong>Andes<\/strong>. Photo by: @dzianisdew<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-visit-all-the-markets-around-the-city\">Visit all the Markets Around the City<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s likely that during your first visit you visited the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/the-best-souvenirs-to-take-home-from-cusco\/\" target=\"_blank\">San Pedro market<\/a><\/strong>, and maybe the <strong>San Blas market<\/strong>. But, there are so many more around to see. They are all full of colors and a huge range of delicious fruits are on offer. We never get bored of wandering around and trying a few of the dishes that the locals have on offer. It\u2019s a very enjoyable day out though. The <strong>Peruvians<\/strong> are passionate about football and it really shows. There are a lot of places around that offer classes over a big price range. They can get packed, however, and many people will be there drinking. If you want a quieter scene and a more personal instructor, there are other options out there. But this time learn how to make a <strong>Peruvian<\/strong> favorite at one of the restaurants around town that offer lessons. Photo by: @_matt_sam <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-visit-the-planetarium\">Visit the Planetarium<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is slightly out of the center, and many people don\u2019t get to visit it on a fleeting visit to <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/trekking-in-peru\/cusco\/salkantay-trek-4d\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cusco<\/a><\/strong>. But it\u2019s a great place to visit. Gaze up at the night\u2019s sky as you learn all about Incan astrology and what things meant to them. This time ride around in style. <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/adventure-sports-you-should-practice-when-in-cusco\/\" target=\"_blank\">ATVs<\/a><\/strong> are available in a few different areas and you\u2019ll get to see another side to the <strong>Andes<\/strong>, off road. It can be a real thrill and an <strong>exciting <\/strong>day out. There are a variety of<strong> Andean<\/strong> animals for you to observe from the usual alpacas and llamas to the rarer spectacled bear (who <strong>Paddington bear<\/strong> was based on). Photo by: Santuario Animal De Cochahuasi.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-hike-up-to-devil-s-balcony\">Hike up to Devil\u2019s Balcony<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a good idea to go with someone from the area, but this is an interesting place to go visit and not something many tourists get to see. You\u2019ll hike up out of the city to a natural rock formation. Head inside a small cave and stare down off the <strong>\u2018Devil\u2019s Balcony\u2019<\/strong>. It\u2019s a big drop down and might give you a lump in your throat. Photo by: @sandra_evaluna<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-head-out-of-the-city-to-the-southern-valley-for-some-local-food\">Head Out of the City to the Southern Valley for Some Local Food<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As you head out of <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/trekking-in-peru\/cusco\/salkantay-trek-4d\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cusco<\/a><\/strong> into the <strong>Southern Valley<\/strong>, you\u2019ll see many small towns and each one seems to have gastronomical delicacy for you to try. You can spend many days heading out to them all and trying the food. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Saylla<\/strong> is known for chicharron, the fried pig that\u2019s delicious. The next town is <strong>Tipon<\/strong>, which is the best place to get some traditional guinea pig. Following that is <strong>Oropesa<\/strong>, which has some huge round bread on offer. And the last one is <strong>Lucre<\/strong>. There they have trout farms for you to try <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/trekking-in-peru\/cusco\/salkantay-trek-4d\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cusco<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s favorite fish fresh out of the water. Urcos is a small town that is situated next to a small lake. It can be nice to get away from the city for a day to sit by the lake, enjoy a picnic or barbeque, or even take a pedal boat out onto the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"920\" height=\"920\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/urcos-lake-south-valley-cusco.jpg\" alt=\"Urcos lake southern valley south valey\" class=\"wp-image-2381\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"> <br>One of the most beautiful lakes in the southern valley. If you\u2019re here for a while, then you should try them all. If you\u2019re only visiting briefly, choose the ones that appeal to you most. Whatever you go for, we think you\u2019ll have a great time.
