Sit back and relax and let your <strong>mouth start to salivate<\/strong> as you enjoy this list of<strong> Peruvian cuisine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ceviche<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is THE plate of <strong>Peru<\/strong>, and it\u2019s no wonder why. Made with fresh fish from the day, cooked in just lemon juice with a bit of chili, <strong>cilantro<\/strong>, and garlic, it\u2019s mouth-wateringly tasty! It\u2019s traditionally from the coast, but if you aren\u2019t visiting that area and are only in <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/trekking-in-peru\/cusco\/city-tour-cusco-sacred-valley-tour-salkantay-aguas-calientes-machu-picchu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cusco<\/a><\/strong>, you\u2019ll find some decent trout options, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll find a huge variety of <strong><em>cevicheria<\/em>s<\/strong> all over the country that sell this favorite. We recommend trying it in a well-renowned establishment, however, to make sure the fish is fresh and of a good standard. It has a slight <strong>Asian<\/strong> influence in the fact that it\u2019s cooked like a stir fry and uses soy sauce. It\u2019s a great fusion with <strong>Peruvian<\/strong> cuisine and really goes well with a <strong>beer<\/strong> on a hot day! It\u2019s made with <strong>yellow chili<\/strong>, cream, <strong>peanuts<\/strong>, and a few other ingredients that give it a <strong>unique taste<\/strong>. It comes with rice, potatoes, <strong>olives<\/strong>, and a <strong>boiled egg<\/strong>! Quite the combination to say the least. Cooked in the oven with a <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"traditional  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/amazing-people-and-llamas-at-rainbow-mountain-8-photos-to-discover-this-natural-wonder-in-peru\/\" target=\"_blank\">traditional <\/a><\/strong>herb called<em> <\/em><strong><em>\u2018huacatay\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, it comes served with <strong>baked noodles<\/strong>, a <strong>stuffed pepper<\/strong>, potatoes, and occasionally other staples. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll see that a lot of places serve it up whole on a plate for the classic <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/instapost-8-pictures-to-discover-the-magic-of-the-lares-trail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Instagram<\/a><\/strong> photo. But, many of them will whisk it away after and chop it up into more manageable pieces. Photo by: Stacey T. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>C<\/strong>hicharron<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is another very <strong>popular food<\/strong> with the inhabitants, especially in <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/traditional\/cusco\/rainbow-mountain\/\" target=\"_blank\">mountainous regions<\/a><\/strong>. It\u2019s pork that is fried in its own fat, which creates for some seriously tasty pieces of pig. It\u2019s traditionally served with fried potatoes, <strong>corn<\/strong>, and a salad of <strong>raw red onion<\/strong> and <strong>mint<\/strong>. It might sound like a strange combination, but it goes very well together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re in <strong>Cusco<\/strong>, you should head out into the <strong>Southern Valley<\/strong> to a small town called <strong>Saylla<\/strong>. It\u2019s full of<strong> restaurants <\/strong>that specifically serve this dish and is the plate of the town. The portion size is a lot smaller than the other dishes mentioned, but this doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s lacking in flavour. An interesting combination of layers of mashed potato, chicken, mayonnaise, <strong>avocado<\/strong>, <strong>boiled egg<\/strong>, and a few other ingredients that make it <strong>very palatable<\/strong>. It\u2019s served cold so is a great option on a warm <strong>sunny da<\/strong>y with a <strong>beer<\/strong> if you\u2019re by the <strong>beach<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/causa-limena-food-peru-gastronomy.jpg\" alt=\"Causa lime\u00f1a\" class=\"wp-image-2546\" width=\"920\" height=\"920\"\/><figcaption> It\u2019s a great option on a warm sunny day. If you get the chance to make them, even better! You will need a<strong><em> \u2018bijao\u2019<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em>leaf to wrap all the ingredients in before finishing it all off. It includes a lot of <strong>Peruvian<\/strong> diet staples from rice, chicken, and egg to turmeric and garlic. It sounds simple, but sometimes simplicity is the best recipe. Soups in <strong>Peru<\/strong> are big and hearty and the best and <strong>most delicious<\/strong> is <strong><em>caldo de gallina<\/em><\/strong>. A broth packed with chicken (bone and all), potatoes, egg, and other chunks. It varies from the <strong>coast<\/strong>, where they use noodles, to the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/traditional\/cusco\/rainbow-mountain\/\" target=\"_blank\">mountains<\/a><\/strong>, where it\u2019s made with rice. But, wherever you try it out, you\u2019ll be blown away by the <strong>amount of flavour<\/strong> in the bowl.
