During this month, people not only enjoy <strong>Cusco\u2019<\/strong>s day itself, but celebrate as well other important events: The <strong>Inti Raymi<\/strong>, The Civic Parade, The <strong>Andean Corpus Christi<\/strong> or the \u201c<strong>Cusco<\/strong>, lights and sound\u201d which is a massive concert at the <strong>Plaza de Armas<\/strong>. Also, daily parades occur, concerts at public squares, gastronomic exhibitions, traditional dancing contests and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image fancy-gallery\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a class=\"fancy-gallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/inti-raymi-drone-Andean-Culture-Cusco-Saqsayhuaman.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/inti-raymi-drone-Andean-Culture-Cusco-Saqsayhuaman-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Aereal view of Qorikancha temple in Cusco\" class=\"wp-image-1150\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo by: stakeholders.com.pe Inti Raymi from the sky<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Every year, <strong>EMUFEC<\/strong> (The County Company in charge of the Festivals) publishes a complete schedule with the activities that locals and visitors will enjoy. We have already approximately 175 events that will take place in the City for this 2019. Nevertheless, not only the joy is enormous, the amount of waste produced during these festivals is a subject of matter as well: 40 Tons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Inti-Raymi-Qoricancha-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Panoramic photo of the Inti Raymi festivity in Saqsayhuaman\" class=\"wp-image-12018\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Inti Raymi festivity in Saqsayhuaman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-for-the-first-time-plastic-usage-will-be-banned\">For the first time, plastic usage will be banned<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of this, <strong>EMUFEC<\/strong> will enforce a plan that seeks to protect our mother Earth during the whole month of June. To that end, these authorities programmed several meetings with different entities, which actively participate of the festivals; so they can obtain the \u201cGreen Seal\u201d, a certificate that Peru Green Building Council gives for best environmental practices. Also, they will conduct awareness programs about solid waste management with tour operators and traders. In the same way, agents will monitor the <strong>plastic<\/strong> usage during the activities with the most public participation.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image fancy-gallery\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a class=\"fancy-gallery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/ANDINA-inti-raymi-coya-inca-queen-Inca-Inti-Raymi-Andean-Culture-Cusco-Saqsayhuaman.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"\/\/www.salkantaytrekking.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/ANDINA-inti-raymi-coya-inca-queen-Inca-Inti-Raymi-Andean-Culture-Cusco-Saqsayhuaman-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Happy Inca Queen at Inti Raymi\" class=\"wp-image-1152\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo by: Andina. Let us keep in mind that no less than 80 thousand people attend the <strong>Inti Raymi<\/strong> ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our Planet is facing a critical environmental crisis that demands an answer from each one of us.
